Here's how we can can help!

EDSI Youth Services in Philadelphia offer WIOA Youth Services to 16-24 year old Philadelphia residents without a high school diploma. Youth can receive 16 hours a week of GED preparation.

Youth can explore in demand career pathways and have the opportunity to complete an in-person internship for up to 8 weeks.

Here's what we focus on:

Education

  • Free tutoring is provided
  • Academic preparation for the four GED tests in Math, Reading, Language Arts, and Social Studies
  • Take each GED test for free ($120 value)
  • Receive the Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma

Career & Employment

  • Resume Development
  • Career Readiness Workshops and Speakers
  • Mock Interviews
  • In-person work experiences

Connections & Empowerment

  • Learn how to apply to and pay for college
  • Help locating free or low-cost training programs
  • Connections to apprenticeship opportunities
  • Help landing a job and creating a career pathway
Financial incentives are available to celebrate your wins such as earning your GED, enrolling in college, starting an apprenticeship, enrolling in a training program, completing a resume, and participating in a mock interview.

Meet the team:

  • Aisha

    Aisha Williams, Youth Advocate

    Develops an individual service strategy to help you navigate ECC services and set overall program goals. Works with you to help you meet your EDUCATION goals. They work with your teachers to keep track of your progress towards earning your GED. You will meet with her weekly to discuss how you are progressing to earning your Commonwealth Secondary School Diploma. 

    Ms. Williams will also reach out to you daily via text, group chat, phone call, and/or email with reminders about GED class or to inform you of upcoming program activities. Please keep the lines of communication open so that you can continue to move towards reaching your education and employment goals.

    Tiara Cheatham, Career Service Coordinator

    Follows your individual service strategy and works with you to help you meet your CAREER goals. You will meet with her weekly to discuss virtual and in-person work experience opportunities, connect to jobs, and other career opportunities.

    Ms. Cheatham will also reach out to you via text, group chat, phone call, and/or email with reminders to log-into GED class or to inform you of upcoming program activities. Please keep the lines of communication open so that you can continue to move towards reaching your career education goals.

  • Nidara

    Nidara Holmes, Enrollment & QA Specialist

    During the Intake and Enrollment process, she will reach out and advise on the proper eligibility documents needed for enrollment as well as confirm age and a preferred appointment date and time. In correlation with her QA title, Ms. Nidara will also be the distributor of transportation passes as well as collect signatures for any incentive payments. 

  • Leonard

    Leonard Leach, Program Manager

    Mr. Leach has been with ECC since its inception back in 2020. Starting out as a WEX coordinator, he cultivated some of the program partnerships that ECC still has today. His passion for building relationships and connecting individuals to opportunities has elevated him in his role as program manager. His door will always open for staff and participants alike. The coordinators are the main points of contacts for the participants, but you'll occasionally see Mr. Leonard offering guidance to participants or facilitating a workshop.
